CAPACITY: 3.5 MGD
This project for the City of Salem involved a four phase expansion and modernization project for its water treatment plant to increase capacity from 2.2 MGD to 3.5 MGD and to improve treatment efficiency to meet more stringent drinking water regulations.
Projects included complete replacement of lake spillway to increase capacity and safety, a provision for gravity raw water flow from lake to eliminate raw water pump station and associated costs, and renovation of settling basins to include tube settler modules and integral de-icing system for improved winter operations and to eliminate damage caused by winter-time ice buildup.
Also included the complete renovation of seven filters, addition of second flocculation basin, complete renovation of all chemical feed systems, new high service pumps, clearwell repiping to eliminate short-circuiting in disinfection process, SCADA system, and other modernization improvements.
